We have had our doors for nearly 3 years and have been incredibly happy with the sleek, slimline look and smooth ease at which they open and shut. Installation went well and everything ran smoothly. A year later we decided to get hooks to pin back the windows as they would swing about in the wind. Engineers came and did that without any issues. I suggest everyone asks for hooks on the doors and windows as an add on, as they don’t come with them.

The company had its origins in powder-coating aluminium for its client base and began designing and manufacturing aluminium-framed innovative doors more than ten years ago. The Test of Time: SunSeeker Doors Bi Folding Doors Installations.

When a product is considered to be 'new' there are many cautious people who, quite rightly, want their hard-earned money to be carefully invested in a product that is going to last. Fortunately, there are also pioneering-spirited people who embrace new products, enabling them to be tested - and improved - over time.

SunSeeker Doors' glazed bifolds have been manufactured in England since 2003. One of the case studies we published earlier related to a bi folding doors installation in Hertfordshire in 2007. The customers are still living at the same address and agreed that the following could be published:

"It took us about 3 years to get used to the doors just being there rather than admiring them! We still love them. There was a time, after about 2 years, when the lock was a bit stiff to turn and needed either patience or strength. I did tell the company and they assured me that it was a standard problem that occasionally happens with locks and, unless it's broken, we should persevere."

"I had to reluctantly agree as we were having a similar problem with the lock on our front door, fitted by a well-known double-glazing company before we purchased the house. A few months later, the lock on the front door jammed and the key broke off inside. However, the lock on the bifolding doors did loosen and has been trouble free for quite some time, so they were right!"

"We also had integral blinds fitted inside the glazing, despite reading that people questioned the cost of repair if the mechanism should fail. We have used the blinds every morning and night for four years and (touch wood) they are as good as new. More importantly, the blinds have never had to be cleaned or dusted. Bliss!"

Bi Folding Doors with Integral Horizontal Blinds = Customer Satisfaction

SunSeeker Doors installed a set of bi folding patio doors with integrated blinds for a customer living north of London almost three years ago...

"We still really like our bifolding doors, so clean-looking and easy to live with plus they feel so sturdy, unlike the pvc doors we have elsewhere. Our decision to order the bifolds with blinds inside the double glazing was the easily the best decision we made, even though it pushed the price up.

"Last week, the cable TV engineer was here and he much admired our doors and blinds; this week, the new window cleaner remarked how impressed he was with them. In both cases, I'm sure they thought I was a sales rep for SunSeeker Doors because I so proudly demonstrated the ease of aluminium frames, dust-free blinds, etc!

Bifolding Doors and Blinds - discussion on MumsNet

Q: Anyone got those bi-folding doors- what do you do about blinds?

Our thanks to one of our customers who provided this response:

"I've been through all this three years ago!

We didn't choose wooden doors for the reason given above (we'd had wooden in our previous house) so we compared pvc with aluminium and there was no comparison! Aluminium won hands down in all areas except price.

The frames are stronger and much narrower so that you are looking through the glass rather than at an ugly plastic frame, and they come in a range of colours (in the end we played safe and opted for white).

Following a demonstration of doors and blinds at a SunSeeker Doors installation, we felt confident enough to spend the extra on integral blinds inside the glass. They come with a guarantee but because there is no strain placed on the blinds' mechanism when it is being opened, closed, etc., there's little chance of it going wrong.

That was three years ago and (touch wood - oh no, I can't, I opted for metal!) the blinds have worked perfectly and we have had absolutely no problems sliding and folding the doors.

I don't like curtains and all the vertical blinds we've ever had have gone wrong so every window has slatted venetians but only the bifolding doors have them inside and all the other blinds in the house are dusty! (and a couple of them have gone wonky with boys - includes husband - tugging at them but this isn't a problem with the integral blinds).

I don't know which area you live but it might be worth checking www.sunseekerdoors.co.uk as I can recommend them. They measure up and manufacture to order, in England, so they can install quite quickly too (this service is in the price).
